Amedeo Modigiani was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks and figures.
His works were not well received during his lifetime but later became much more sought after.
In 1906 he moved to Paris to study art. He came into contact with such artists as Poblo Picasso and others.
This Lithograph is a nude drawing of Anna Akhmatova who was a famous Russian poet and one of her most significant of the 20th century.
Her tragic masterpiece "Requim" was about Stalinist terror.
She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1965 & 1966.
